Legacy Gifts to the St. Andrew Social Justice Endowment Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF)

Planning for the future and creating the legacy you wish to leave is one of the most effective ways to ensure a lasting impact. Legacy gifts to the St. Andrew Social Justice Endowment Fund at OCF provides St. Andrew with a revenue stream to support social justice activities far into the future. This independent investment fund provides the professional management needed to ensure its longevity and use. Moneys distributed by the fund may be used by St. Andrew in accordance with the terms of the endowment fund.

Who is OCF

The Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) is a statewide philanthropic organization that connects charitable donors with community needs. With OCF, individuals, families, businesses and organizations create charitable funds to support communities statewide.

What is an Endowment Fund

An endowment fund is a pool of invested money that is designed to generate ongoing income to support an organization into the foreseeable future. The principal is preserved while the investment earnings are distributed each year, creating a stable source of support.

What is the St. Andrew Social Justice Endowment Fund

This endowment fund was established at OCF by friends of St. Andrew for the sole benefit of supporting St. Andrew’s social justice activities for the foreseeable future.

Use of Funds

The earnings distributed from the Fund are directed to support programs benefitting the health and welfare of the poor and marginalized in the St. Andrew community and North/Northeast Portland; for people suffering from discrimination based on race, language, ethnicity, origin, ability, sexual orientation, gender expression, marital status, and life situation; for ecological sustainability and eco-justice; for the reduction of violence in our communities; and for the advancement of peace and human rights.

Specific uses of the money are determined by St. Andrew leadership and is intended to be used in the year it is received.

Endowment Fund Management

The Endowment Fund, including investment, distribution and oversight, is exclusively managed by OCF.

Oversight

OCF has sole control of the money invested in the endowment  fund. St. Andrew or the Archdiocese of Portland have no control or oversight.

Contingencies

If at any time St. Andrew ceases to exist or no longer uses distributed earnings as directed, further distributions from the Fund shall instead be made, in equal portions to St Vincent de Paul (Portland Chapter), St. Andrew Nativity School, Metropolitan Alliance for Common Good, and Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, or one or more qualified charitable organizations with similar objects and purposes selected by OCF in its sole discretion.
